Meet Shelly!

Shelly was to be the newest addition to our family. The boys were so excited... running around & screaming "We have a Pet!!!" Ya think we need to get them one? That is a rhetorical question... I hope no one out there thinks I was insane enough to actually buy this? Let me start from the beginning...

The day started out pretty much like the rest of June. Overcast and raining. Then mid morning it looked to be clearing up but no sun in site. After exhausting my self by yelling (insert anyone of the phrases below)

Stop jumping... from one couch to the other!!!

Stop jumping... from the coffee table to the couch!!!

Stop jumping... from the couch arm over the end table!!! (this particular one is new... and caught my by surprise).

I made the executive decision... EVERYBODY OUTSIDE!!! So they played with their cars, we took a bike ride, we had lunch outside and they continued to play with their cars. The sun came out a little while later so I asked Connor to get my bag with the sunblock lotions. Figure with my luck... they would get a sun burn through the clouds. We even had our snack outside... Ice Pops!!!

So it was getting late and we had been out all day. We started to clean up and what do I see on the driveway when I look down... a worm. Yuk! For those who don't know me... not big on the whole bug thing. I am staring at this thing and can't believe how close it has been to me and I didn't know it. I'm also thinking... hmmm how did a worm get here on the driveway? Then upon further review of this "wild creature" I noticed a couple of knobby things (not sure what ya call them) on top of its head. THAT is not a worm it's a... SNAIL?!?!? Are you kidding me?!?!? how did that thing get here?!?! Then I looked inside my suntan lotion bag and what do you know... a shell.

The wonder of it all is on this last trip to the beach we were "shell" free... meaning we didn't collect any. The last time we were to the beach was um... June 13th. OK so... GROSS... this thing has been in my bag, in my house since then?!?!?! How did it live?

The boys were so excited... can we keep it can we keep it... pleeeease Mom pleeeease???? So after a call to dad... to figure out what the heck to do with it... we did this....

The boys were so happy to have a pet. They even made up a song and kept singing it over and over... and oooover! Shelly... shelly our snail... shelly shelly our snail. they couldn't wait to show everyone. I, on the other hand, was thinking "what am I going to do with this snail?" It is soooo not coming inside my house! I would get no sleep thinking it escaped from it's make shift home.

Well I am sad (not so much) to report that Shelly is no longer with us. I have a feeling it did not last long maybe 5 minutes in its new home. I think it got water logged it kind of plumped up? The boys are okay with Shelly's passing. I have no clue what went wrong since that thing lived in my bag, jostled around for a long time. Anyone out there have a clue?

Maybe we definitely should wait on that whole "pet idea" especially the hermit crab one!

What a way to start the week! How was your Monday?

Hello Mr. Sun...

So nice to see you...it's been so long I wasnt sure if i would remember you! Very nice of you to sneak in a quick visit this month.

It was a nice surprise to wake up to a sunny morning... not the usual grey and rainy one! Such a nice surprise that we jumped on it... and decided it was a "BEACH DAY"!!! We kicked it into high gear this morning and actual got out the door in 1 hour... that's from from the moment we decided it was, in fact, a beach day to pulling out of the driveway. Not to shabby... but a record we'll want to beat for the next time... there will be a next time... right MR. Sun?

Ahhh... the smell of the ocean air is my third favorite smell. Just breathing in the air and you are calm and relaxed... well that is until you see your two little ones running toward the ocean with the waves... did i mention rough waves... yea... um "relax" is on hold for a moment.

They were two little fishes for the day! They made a bee line for the water the moment we got there and they didnt want to come out. They were loving the boogie boards again this year which is a plus. Connor has been alot more daring this year so far and was going out further than ever before (you all realize this DOES not make it easy for me to "relax").

Gavin's approach was a little different... he's definitley more of "I'll let the waves come to me" kind of guy.

He was getting more brave towards the end of the day though...

They did manage to take out (and spreach across the beach) every toy we brought with us out. No wonder why Peter keeps packing less and less each time... he swears he doesn't.

Peter even got the fishes out of the water... well almost out of the water to help him build a castle.

They had a lot of fun and we had two very sleepy boys that night. I was so glad we ventured out yesterday because guesss what we woke to this morning... no Happy Mr. Sun!

Well, we made the best of it and decided to go to our local State park which luckily for us only 15 minutes away. I figured we could watch some boats, play on the rocks and wade around in some tidal pools.

I did say "wading" right? I realy do know better with my two boys. I was prepared with a set of extra clothes... with these two... ALWAYS have a set of extra clothes!

Again they didn't want to get out... so we had to bribe them... yep bribe them with a snack and the chance to watch the kites and boats go by. No judging... it worked!

So we did have a nice weekend start to finish. So I'm hoping this happy feeling holds us over for a few days because guess what... NO Mr.Sun for a few days just his grumpy brother Mr. Rain... and the BEST part is... it's summer vacation... no school! ahhhh

Love to all!

Schools out for summer!!!

It's official we have a Kindergartener in the H O U S E!

Yesterday was Connor's last day of Pre-school... sniff sniff... waaahhhh! Yep, I cried and almost made the teachers cry too! Connor was a litle sad to0, but the teacher told him to make sure he looks for them on the beach over the summer. They are truly wonderful teachers, we have been very lucky!

So the reason I was the MIA Blogger in June was because of the Teachers' gifts I made this year (necklaces in these cute little tins for all and a little something extra for the teachers who interacted with thim the most).

So after we gave out our gifts...

(Necklaces in the tin)

(Something Extra)

We left so he could enjoy his last day... and I could cry in peace. The Theme for the last days of school was the "Circus". So he had fun day with tatoos, face and body painting (he is liking this a litte too much... no smiling uncle Brian!). They had a mini parade with the graduates... they all sang "As the graduates go marching on"... and then they had cake and ice cream and just some plane old "FUN"!!!

After we picked him up from school and I hhhmmm composed myself we took them to the library to get a video... yes I know library = books but hey, its been Rainy, plus me and Gavin are sick so we are house bound. So it was a video or two today. Then we came home and had this set up for him...

We had a yummy dessert party after school then it was a pizza and movie party at night. Hey you only graduate preschool once... right!

Has anyone seen June??

I am pretty sure it must have ran away! How else to explain why I havent posted since MAY!! I am shocked! Hello? Hello? Anyone out there? You people are supposed to get on my butt when I haven't posted for an ENTIRE MONTH!!!

If any one has found June please send it back to me okay. Thanks
